New England Medical Center
Skull Base Surgery Unit
This brochure to develop referrals for brain surgery was unique for several reasons.
First, we conceived and produced the graphic on the cover which shows the large blood vessel that feeds the brain in place against a projected profile of a head. (The chief of this unit at NEMC had this blood vessel in a bell jar on his desk from a research project and suggested to us that it might make a good logotype! At first we gasped, but then came up with the idea that led to the cover -- brilliant executed by their staff photographer.)
Second, we printed this brochure using only two colors to keep costs down. The actual flat size of this is 6 inches high by about 26 inches wide (3 panels). All the photos throughout the brochure are duotones (printed both in black and blue) for increased dramatic effect.
Third, we learned more about brain surgery than we ever wanted to know.
